A combination of the typical seasonal trend and higher borrowing costs impacted the housing market activity for September.
Sales activity in September decreased from this time last year partly due to higher mortgage interest rates that are now common. Average sales prices also increased slightly as compared to last year. The average time to sell a home increased as well as the months of inventory now available on the market.
But, do not dismay! Homes will still sell IF they are priced right! Pricing is even more important than ever. Seller assistance can also help Buyers get off the fence about purchasing now or waiting until later. With higher interest rates, Seller buy down of interest rates or help with Buyer closing costs can go a long way to secure a sale.
